There are two main ways that people use email:
‘Web based’, where you access it using an internet browser like Internet Explorer or Safari. This means easy access from any web-connected system. Mail is read, but not ‘collected’. That is, you do not move the mail from your supplier’s server to your remote system.
‘Client based’, where you access it using an email client. This is also called POP access. You collect the mail by moving it from your supplier’s server to your remote system (PC or laptop).
It is possible to combine these methods, and there is also another method that isn’t used much any more, because it was aimed at dial-up connections.
